The Mushroom Week of the University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden takes place during the second week of September

At the beginning of Autumn, We celebrate the traditional Mushroom Week, taking place from September 12 to 14. Once again, we discover the mysterious world of mushrooms on a mushroom excursion and a colorful mushroom exhibition.

The University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden will host the traditional Mushroom Week on the second week of September. All interested participants are welcome to join the mushroom excursion and the two-day mushroom exhibition.

On Thursday, September 12, from 10 AM to 3 PM, a mushroom excursion will be led by biologist Külli Kalamees-Pani. During the excursion, we will learn to identify and collect mushrooms to be displayed at the exhibition. Pre-registration is required for the excursion (excursion is in Estonian). The participation fee is 15 euros for adults and 10 euros for children. The excursion will depart on the morning of September 12 at 10 AM from the University of Tartu Natural History Museum, located at Vanemuise 46, Tartu. Please dress according to the weather.

On Friday and Saturday, September 13–14, from 10 AM to 6 PM, a mushroom exhibition will be open at the seminar area of the University of Tartu Natural History Museum, where visitors can explore autumn mushrooms. The mushrooms will be displayed with information on their edibility and toxicity. Mushroom experts will be present at the exhibition to answer questions and provide mushroom information. Visitors are also encouraged to bring their own found mushrooms to the exhibition. Visiting the exhibition and the Natural History Museum is at a discounted rate: 4 euros for adults, and 2 euros for children and seniors.

The mushroom exhibition is curated and identified by biologist Külli Kalamees-Pani and the team from the University of Tartu Natural History Museum. The organization of Mushroom Week is supported by the Environmental Investment Centre (SA Keskkonnainvesteeringute Keskus).
